Although Siri Shortcuts isn’t officially out yet, even on the iOS 12 developer beta, we can surface a lot of this functionality with the currently available Workflow app. Let’s dive in.
Shortcuts will make your everyday tasks easier and help you save time by creating keyboard shortcuts for routine things like launching applications and opening websites. Set Shortcuts for:. Applications You can launch applications like iCal, iTunes, and Mail by pressing a keystroke. You can easily reconfigure shortcuts and choose other apps or keyboard keys.
iTunes Actions Play, pause, next Track, volume control not leaving the application you're currently in. Folders & Files It's very convenient to assign a simple shortcut to a file or folder you constantly work with.
System Actions You don't need extra function keys like Play & Pause, Increase & Decrease Volume, Sleep, Restart & Shutdown because you can easily control System, Volume, Screen and Apps with Shortcuts. Shell & Applescripts Once you've written or found a useful script, you can easily run it with a few keys pressed. The built-in script editor allows you to not only import an existing script, but to also create a new one right in the app, perform a test run, make corrections and save or export it to your hard drive. Websites You can assign shortcuts to websites you like to visit and open them at any time. And, of course, you can replace one URL with another if your tastes or work situation change. Some user-chosen shortcuts may already exist for another action. If a new shortcut conflicts with a system one, application asks you either to choose another combination or to override the system shortcut.
2020vision, This app is awesome Shortcuts lets you live the keyboard highlife, and minimize point and click. Although you can use the keyboard shortcuts found in your various Mac programs within those programs, this app gives me the additional ability to have global shortcuts.
So from whatever program I'm in, I can switch to something else. I mainly use it to open folders that I frequently work in. In fact, the dev was really responsive and added this feature when I asked them a couple years ago. Second major use for me is to to start up or switch between various apps. You can also use it for more obscure things.
For instance, I often need to turn my wifi on or off. I just downloaded an Apple script from the web that would do this and simply assigned a global shortcut to it. One keystroke now turns my wifi on or off. Have used this app for 2.5 years.
By far the most used thing on my Mac. And reviews aren’t the place for a bug report. 2020vision, This app is awesome Shortcuts lets you live the keyboard highlife, and minimize point and click. GodJesus, Good, but nothing special. It works as advertised, but the interface is a little oversimplified. For instance, rather than showing that the file path to a script I've hotkeyed, why not let me name it? Also, this program would function better with a setup like BetterSnapTool, which shows you the entire assignment interface in a preferences pane only if called upon (appearing only in the menubar otherwise). After all, once hotkeys are set, there really isn't a need for the program's UI. More importantly, the price is a bit absurd, and should be enough to steer you away, with almost identical alternatives like Spark and Quicksilver available for free. I'd recommend this if you need to assign hotkeys to things that the System Preferences pane either can't do or makes difficult (scripts, webites, etc.), and you want a very cute UI to help you do it.

Classact, Great app, but startup behavior still odd First the good: I really like Shortcuts and use it all the time, for launching apps, switching between apps, running Apple Scripts, etc. But: Version 2.0 had startup issues, supposedly fixed in 2.0.1. However, I’ve experienced odd behavior.
If I put Shortcuts in my login items, it deletes other logn items and sometimes deletes itself as a login item. I blame Shortcuts since this behavior only began after installing 2.0.1. It used to ask, every time, whether I wanted it to autostart at login. Now it is silent, and frequently doesn’t login at startup at all. I think another fix is in order. Oh, and Shortcuts used to appear in the list of apps using Command-Tab. Now it’s missing there.
